Blacksod Lighthouse

Blacksod Lighthouse has stood steadfast shining bright over Blacksod Point for over 150 years. Through automation the lighthouse keepers have left, and our story keepers have taken the reigns of this great lighthouse. Our guided tours will take you through lighthouse life as it was for the keepers and their families and guide you through the rich history of Ireland’s great lighthouses and aids to navigation. Blacksod is a rare opportunity to visit a working lighthouse overlooking a working pier. Enjoy a coffee after your tour at the adjacent Coffee Pod overlooking the pier. It offers the perfect opportunity to absorb the atmosphere of this serene location and a chance to watch the comings and goings of the fishermen on Blacksod Pier.
