Step into a time where literature was important and get to know the most earning English writer of her time. Children Stories, Novels, Letters – discover Maria Edgeworth, a prolific writer and an important Enlightenment figure in the 18th century. Explore the museum, full of many valuable artefacts dating as far back as to the 18th Century. Listen to captivating stories of a forward-thinking family and their many contributions to education, science and politics. Unearth the town's past and its connections with historical figures like Oliver Goldsmith, Sir Walter Scott and Oscar Wild. Located in an 1840’s school building and housing also a recreation of a 19th century school room with genuine artefacts like desks, school books and writing copies, it invites you to test your skills in writing on slates or with a feather.
